Ferricher Family Farm

IMG_6076 (1).jpeg

We care about the land and our animals focusing on raising high quality registered Katahdin hair sheep as well as commercial St. Croix/Katahdin crosses that require low inputs and are easy to care for.   Each animal shows our commitment to raising strong, hardy sheep that do well on any farm.

Our animals thrive on a pasture-based operation.   A regenerative approach, our farming practices are designed to mimic mother nature.  We exercise a rotational grazing operation with small mobile sheep barns, aka "sheep shacks," to provide protection from the elements.  No shoveling poop for us, just move the shack and let that fertilizer work!  We've found that frequent rotations of the flock greatly benefit both the animals and the land.

Excellent registered and commercial Katahdin & Katahdin/St.Croix sheep from our farm to yours...

Parasite Resistance

Our sheep are bred for strong resistance to internal parasites, reducing the need for chemical dewormers and ensuring a healthier flock with less labor.  We rarely use chemical dewormers within our flock and only on an as needed basis.

The Value of our Katahdin Genetics

Low Maintenance

Designed for easy management, Katahdins naturally shed their hair coats, eliminating the need for shearing.  We work to produce a genetic line that thrive on native forage with low inputs and healthy hooves, even on our bottomland loamy soils in Central Arkansas.

A robust and sturdy genetic line

We focus on pasture-raised animals that require minimal inputs producing robust lambs that grow out well.

A focus on mimicing nature

We work to mimic nature through frequent movements and limiting permanent structures to keep the animals where they were meant to be...outside and in the fresh air creating the healthiest, most stress-free environment for our sheep to flourish.

A little about us

IMG_4160 edits.JPG

We're a family farm located in Central Arkansas, a farm that started with a dream, then some ideas on a napkin, then a lot of sweat and now here we are, living that dream.  Jon is a military pilot, and Megan homeschools our 5 kids where they get to experience first-hand what life on the farm is all about and hopefully scratch the surface in capturing the beauty of God's creation.  Our hope is that our sheep bring you as much joy as they have brought us.
